About: Seaum Shim, a Korea-based artist, explores the intersection of technology and art. Shim consistently focuses on everyday objects and phenomena that surround us, intrigued by the potential of computer technology to freely transform and manipulate these commonplace discoveries. Recently, the artist has embarked on a project to perceive and reinterpret nature through digital technology while simultaneously planning a piece under dual themes of “ambiguity” and “nature.” For Shim, art serves as a means and a practice to observe reality from a fresh perspective. Most of Shim's works utilize digital technology but remain grounded in reality. Through his practice he confronts a personal contradiction: being captivated by digital technology while concurrently studying its opposite—nature—and yearning for a non-virtual reality. However, given that this conflict is a shared experience among modern individuals, he believes his work can encourage audiences to ponder this common predicament.
