Ifie Sin

About
Ifie Sin is an artist based in Seoul, South Korea.
She received her MFA in media art at the École européenne supérieure de l'image in France.
Sin primarily draws on the medium of video to pinpoint individual existence within certain communities and societies. For the artist, a significant area of interest lies in how the ongoing record of history and our biologically finite nature form boundaries and are categorized and collected.
Sin’s work begins by taking as its motif the laboratory in which a singular entity is observed and directs its attention toward matters of natural history, archeology, evolution, and the chronicle of life. The artist constructs narratives either specific or abstract on the basis of archived material and personal interviews, thereby exploring landscape depth and aesthetic perspectives.

Sin has held and participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Goyang Residency, Seoul Museum of Art, SongEun Art Space, Seoul Art Space Geumcheon, White Block, Platform-L, Daechungho Museum of Art, Seoul Olympic Museum of Art, Korean Cultural Center Germany, Korean Cultural Center Hong Kong, Basis (Germany), KHOJ (India), Waley Art (Taiwan), and Aichi University of the Arts (Japan).
Her works are currently housed in collections at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul Museum of Art, and the SongEun Art and Cultural Foundation.
