About: Artist Kim Hyeonsu majored in Photography and Related Media and is currently working on an M.A. in Intermedia Art. He documents diverse time periods and scenes of contemporary South Korean society through urban landscapes.
illustrates the absence of expression in the faces of contemporary people, defined within a specified and standardized structure with only slightly different appearances, in the scenes of a playground in contemporary South Korean society.
is a work that records the shape of landscaping trees in the city. Neatly trimmed landscaping trees represent contemporary people living in accordance with social standards. Through this work, the artist reveals the unchanged nature of contemporary people even if their appearances change to comply to the social norm.
Kim Hyeonsu's works are currently housed at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) and uJung Art Center in Seoul, and some are privately owned through gallery art fairs.
