Choe Sooryeon uses traditional images shared in Northeast Asia as illustrations that depict the absurd world. Recently, she has been focusing on slowly and solitarily tracing through the translation process of classical Chinese tales, using transcription as her main methodology. And she searches for the points in which such scribblings become paintings.
She has sought to share the senses of Sadness, humor, ignorance, etc. through exhibitions such as (Gallery Chosun, Seoul, 2023), (Sansumunhwa, Seoul, 2020), and (Incheon Art Platform Window Gallery, Incheon, 2020).
