Sara yoonjongju

About: Artist Yoon,jongju was born in Daegu in1971. After majoring in Painting at Keimyung University, she has coutinued creating works that express emotions and sensibilities by layering colors on the canvas through light, space, color depth, and lines. The materiality of the medium is transparent yet conveys a warm tactility, producing surfaces that feel cohesive and sealed. Pouring, spreading, and drying liquid paint mixed with water directly onto an unstretched canvas, she repeats this process at least 20-30 times to achieve the density and completeness of the surface.

In terms of form, his work is based on several fixed rules, and small pieces can combine to create larger workks, expanding into structures with flexible Combinations. While instinctive and bodily, and at times spontaneous, her work unfolds through repeated labor and everyday gestures to construct intimate and layered surfaces. Being simultaneously oreental and modern, minimalist yet rich, her works form emotional landscapes that interact subtly with their surroundings.

Her recent solo exhibitions include Promenade(prompt project, 2023), When time has color( The great collection 2023), Cherish the time-Voyage(Eul gallery 2021), Cherish the time(Hpix Dosan 2021). Her group exhibitions include Light, Trace(Yeh gallery 2025), Nuance (Yeh gallery 2024), The Dream That Ripens(Dalseo art center 2024). Endless, Namless(Helen J Gallery, 2024) among others. Her works arepart of collectionsbat the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the Art Bank, Daegu Art Museum, Deagu Culture and arts center, and other notable institutions.
