About
Unhappy the Cosmic Traveller is a Korean new-media and interdisciplinary artist. He began his creative career in 2014 with the release of an electronic music album, and has since explored algorithmic audiovisual forms, as well as philosophical questions about the humanity reflected in artificial intelligence. He is currently working on a long-term project to create and transmit a message to an unknown intelligent lifeform that may exist somewhere in the universe. He has been selected as a creator for Hyundai Motor Group’s ZER01NE and his works have been selected and presented at institutions such as the Asia Culture Center, Arts Council Korea, Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, and the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab.

From childhood, he was fascinated by space and science fiction, especially the question, “Are we really alone in the universe?” That question is closely tied to the sense of loneliness that has long been part of his inner world. In this way, his lifelong curiosity shapes an artistic practice that explores fundamental questions about the universe and existence, prompting reflection on the deepening isolation of individuals today and on humanity’s place in the vast expanse of the universe.
