- About
- Son Hyunseon (b. 1987) lives and works in Seoul, and studied a BFA and MFA of Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts, Korea National University of Arts. Exploring the (im)possibility of representation through the act of painting, Son’s practice engages not only with the cognitive experience but also the corporal relationship with the environment within which her subjects are surrounded by. She rigorously studies color and shape and ultimately liberates these elements into a mental space where the concrete information is missing while the pictorial experience is immersing. In search of the afterimage beyond the superficial imagery, her artistic investigation continues to interrelate the different awareness of bodies, perceptual capabilities, and our mental and physical constraints.
