Bang Jeong A

About
Bang Jeong-a (1968-) is a painter-based installation artist. Now and Here are the essence of her work. Covering everything from her daily life to political society, the environment, and the multidimensional world, she has been called out in realist paintings, feminism, and Busan figurative art. She began her artistic career in the late 1980s when the democratization movement was going strong. She delicately unraveled the lives of Korean women in the 1990s through ""My Handmaiden"" and ""My Daily Life."" Thus, she presented a complex and sociocultural female image. Since then, the world of her work has been expanding through the mid-2000s, which deals with the problems of civil engineering difficulties, nuclear power, and the division of Korea based on her interest in ""ecology"" and ""environment."" Recently, she has been thinking about a common place where the human and non-human worlds meet from an ontological perspective. She participated in several solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad, including 2024 Busan Biennale_Busan Museum of Modern Art, Korea Artist Prize 2021_MMCA, Unbelievably Heavy, Awfully Kee /Bang Jeong A_2019 Busan Museum of Art, 2024Busan Biennale_National Asian Culture Center, and more.
It won the 2024 Ojiho Art Award, the 2023 Koo Bon Ju Art Award, and was nominated for the e Korea Artist Prize 2021.
