Jongock Kim

About
Jongock Kim graduated from the Department of Fiber and Material Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, USA, and studied Fiber installation in his master's course. After returning to Korea, she received her Ph.D. from the Department of Design and Crafts at Hongik University, her dissertation on interdisciplinary art. Jongock Kim has been creating interactive textile art and installation works that combine textiles and new media since 2009. It visually shows the story of virtual and real life through interactive installation work that modularizes and expands indefinitely repeated patterns into space. Images found in the space experienced by the artist are reproduced as patterns in the hexagonal module, and these images have another reproduction of the original and at the same time have the meaning of a new original. Art reproduction by new media technology has raised questions about the Real and the Copy, and in this process, the derived reality cannot distinguish the reproduced image, and it has mainly been working to throw discourse on Jean Baudrillard's Simulation theory that the image of the simulation means reality.
