Jungin Kim

About
Kim Jungin was born in Seoul in 1991. He received his BFA in Western Painting from Mokwon University, completed his MFA in Painting at Hongik University’s Graduate School, and later earned his Ph.D. in Painting from Hongik University.

Kim critically observes rapidly shifting paradigms and the power structures that shape them, focusing on cultural and collective alienation as well as unilateral forms of coercion. His perspective has gradually evolved into an inquiry into painting as a responsive practice—one capable of engaging with and countering dominant power. Through this
approach, Kim constructs a form of solidarity on the canvas using pixelated imagery that reflects both the temporality of slow painting and the lingering memory of blurred objects and places.
