KIM DO HEE

About
Dohee Kim works across painting, installation, photography, text, video, and performance, weaving together disparate layers of perception in ways that are at once whimsical and precise. Her practice focuses on the organic qualities of the human body and the primality of material sensation, where matter emerges not as a fixed object but as a living agency that shares rhythm and breath with the body.

Through processes of pulverization, vaporization, vibration, and resonance, Kim exposes fissures in fixed systems of meaning. By crossing and recombining sensory and material registers, she constructs new networks of connection in which the boundaries between self and other, artificial and natural, living and dead become porous.

In recent years, she has extended her practice through experiments with vibration, sound, and sculptural instruments. In these works, resonant matter collides with bodily breath to generate moments in which sensation is not simply experienced but reconfigured, transformed, and made into new strata of presence.

For Kim, every exhibition and every work is, in essence, a performance: not a singular outcome but a stage where sensations are continually re-tuned. Her art inscribes the fact that it is alive, here and now. Ultimately, Kim’s practice offers a path toward encountering the living moment.
